Shakurra Amatulla is an actor, singer and dancer as well as an award-winning playwright for her comedic radio play THE DISAPPEARANCE OF GENERATION X-LAX which won the 1ST PLACE GOLDEN REEL AWARD in 1998. In 2004 her dramatic play, SHRINK/PREACH, won Honorable Mention in STAGE 3 ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAYS, with a number of her plays receiving public readings in Denver, Colorado and New York City.
As a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) actor, she has appeared in numerous movie, television and commercial productions and made her professional debut on the COMEDY CENTRAL show JON BENJAMIN HAS A VAN.
In her careers as a published author, journalist and screenwriter, the 2008 AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL named Shakurra TV DRAMA SEMIFINALIST for her INVISIBLE PEOPLE spec script for the HBO show BIG LOVE. And the 2009 GARDEN STATE FILM FESTIVAL awarded her SCREENPLAY FINALIST for her comic screenplay, HO HAVOC IN HARLEM.
