Saavan Patel is a first generation Indian American that lived in a motel in the heart of South Central Los Angeles. After disappointing his parents by failing to fulfill his stereotypical destiny and become a doctor, he decided to double down and started comedy at the ripe age of 23. Growing up in a traditional Indian household, his sense of humor was always under appreciated. His stand up talks about what it was like trying to fit in at a predominantly black high school, having strict parents which allowed him to master the art of lying, and the struggle of being an Indian while feeling like an American.
