Saavan Patel is a first generation Indian American that lived in a motel in the heart of South Central Los Angeles. After disappointing his parents by failing to fulfill his stereotypical destiny and become a doctor, he decided to double down and started comedy at the ripe age of 23. Growing up in a traditional Indian household, his sense of humor was always under appreciated. His stand up talks about what it was like trying to fit in at a predominantly black high school, having strict parents which allowed him to master the art of lying, and the struggle of being an Indian while feeling like an American. These circumstances forced him to see both sides of every situation and comedy was a natural fit.
