In addition to our extensive catalog of core and elective classes, Flappers University is also dedicated to continually offering a varied selection of special “one day” workshops and seminars, focused on unique disciplines and specific lessons within the comedy industry. How to Be a Better Emcee
This Flappers University one-day workshop covers the unique duties of the host of a stand-up comedy show – one of the most important positions at the club! A show emcee or host is an integral part of the success or failure of a stand up show, responsible for keeping the energy up in the room, connecting with the crowd and getting them excited about each comic that comes to the stage. This class covers topics such as emcee etiquette, mic technique, club announcements and more, and is specifically taught by Richy Leis, the house booker for Flappers Comedy Clubs (the guy who books all of our emcees!).
“Business of Comedy” workshops
Flappers University is proud to offer a number of different special one-day “Business of Comedy” workshops and seminars, featuring lessons from a list of guest instructors that include some of the most influential names in the industry.
