A regular panel member on NPR’s Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me, Alonzo Bodden has been making audiences around the country laugh for more than 20 years.
In August 2019, Alonzo starred in his fourth stand-up special, Heavy Lightweight, which premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. In the special he touched upon a range of topics from slavery, cell phones, and the #MeToo movement, to millennials, Kanye West and Taco Bell. As he says, â€"he likes to mix it up and hopes that audiences will join him for a laugh and a think, or two."
His first big comedy break came when he was on the â€"New Faces of Comedy†showcase at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, but it was as the season three winner of NBCʼs Last Comic Standing, where Alonzo was first introduced to America.
Since then, he has starred in two comedy specials for Showtime: Historically Incorrect and Who’s Paying Attention. He’s also made appearances on ABC’s Dr. Ken and Fresh Off the Boat, Dr. Phil, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and Californication.
He’s also hosted the live touring version of Family Feud, the Just For
Laughs comedy awards show along with numerous charity fundraisers.
A car and motorcycle aficionado, Bodden hosted Speed Channel’s 101 Cars You Must Drive and America’s Worst Driver on the Travel Channel, and has joined Jay Leno for several off-road trips on his CNBC series Leno’s Garage. He was also a field correspondent on Animal Nation with Anthony Anderson, and a contributor on the Science Channel’s How to Build Everything.
In 2018, Alonzo released his fifth comedy CD titled Man Overboard, and currently hosts the podcast Who's Paying Attention? where he gives his unique take on what's going on in the world.
Every Friday night, Flappers Comedy Club- Burbank presents live Comedy Entertainment right in the heart of Downtown Burbank, the Entertainment Capital of the world. Flappers is located at the corner of First and Magnolia. We have plenty of of Free Parking all over downtown and Lots of Laughs. Shows will run with major headliners at 8 and 10pm. Nishy XL (Acsell) (Peacock TV NBC) is an Indian/Pakistani talent raised in LA. She tours all over the US and she's been featured in the LA Times.
She was also an improviser and former sketch writer for the Second City Hollywood, and as an SC house cast member, she wrote and performed monthly comedic sketch revues. She was the only South Asian on the house sketch team. In 2020 she placed in the top 10 in the National Comedy Open, was in the finals in the US Comedy Contest by Audience favorite vote, and went home with the "Spirit of Comedy" Medal at the 2021 Gutty's Indiana Clean Comedy Challenge. Originally from Austin, Macey studied at the Groundlings and is a nationally touring stand-up comedian. She co-wrote and co-starred in "Pink Trailer," a short film that made its national debut at SXSW. In 2022, she was named one of the Top 35 Comics to Break Out in 2022 by Interrobang.
