If you’ve ever been given paperwork to sign for representation, a gig, to do a reality show, to have someone shoot your standup, and more, and you weren’t represented, do you really know what you signed? This introductory workshop discusses the types of contracts you might be given, will break down the legalese, and help you understand how to protect your image and IP by learning about various deal points and the right questions to ask. The instructor is not a lawyer, but is experienced in negotiating talent agreements, with lawyers, from working as a talent manager, development, and production executive. You can bring a contract you’ve signed (or are being asked to sign) and present it for discussion. Lawyers are really expensive, so this is a great option to get advice on how to not get screwed.
